Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, describing him as a patriotic Nigerian whose impact on the nation’s security architecture was profound.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor hailed Arase as an illustrious son of Edo State and a committed public servant.
“Late Solomon Arase was a true patriot whose contributions to Nigeria’s security framework were immeasurable. We have lost a great mind, an outstanding public servant, and an exceptional leader. He was a man of integrity and honour who served this country with distinction, rising to the pinnacle of his career through sheer hard work and dedication,” Okpebholo said.
He highlighted the late IGP’s distinguished career, noting that his tenure as the 18th Inspector-General of Police was defined by landmark reforms, professionalism, and a strong push for community policing.
“His legacy of service will endure for generations. He was a beacon of hope and an inspiration to many young officers and future leaders,” the statement added.
The governor extended his condolences to the Arase family and the Nigeria Police Force, praying for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
