Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Passes Away at 91

The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland,  His Royal Mejesty Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away at the age of 91. It was gathered  that the highly respected monarch breathed his last in a private hospital shortly after receiving shocking news of the death of his longtime friend and former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Oba Adetona ascended the throne in 1960 at the youthful age of 26 and reigned for over six decades, making him one of the longest serving traditional rulers in Nigeria’s history. Throughout his reign, he was widely regarded as one of the most popular and influential kings in Yorubaland, known for his wisdom, boldness, and commitment to the development of Ijebuland.

While the cause of his death remains undisclosed, sources close to the palace confirmed that he died peacefully under medical supervision. As of the time of this report, the Ogun State Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of his passing.
