Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has kicked off a large-scale membership mobilisation campaign for the party in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos, urging Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party supporters at the event, Aregbesola accused the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP) of failing to deliver good governance and meaningful development. He positioned the ADC as a credible alternative with the capacity to “reset the nation on the path of progress.”
“Go out and spread the message of the ADC across your local governments. Let Nigerians know that a new era of hope and opportunity awaits them in our party,” he said, promising incentives to support mobilisation activities.
In what appeared to be a direct challenge to President Bola Tinubu and the Lagos APC leadership, the former Osun State governor encouraged members to commence grassroots sensitisation, register during the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continuous voter registration, and prepare to “defend their votes” in 2027.
The rally, which drew a large turnout despite initial delays, featured speeches and campaign songs. Notable attendees included Lagos State ADC Chairman George Ashiru, State Influencer Rahman Owokoniran, and Kosofe LGA Influencer Funmi Onita-Coker, all of whom stressed the importance of early and extensive mobilisation.
Ashiru assured prospective members of “transparent leadership” and equal opportunities for both newcomers and existing members.
Aregbesola closed the event by emphasising grassroots engagement, promising that party membership cards would be distributed soon.
