Abiodun Allocates 130 Hectares for Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port Project

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the release of 130 hectares of land for the construction of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port, to be located along the Epe/Mojoda Expressway in Ijebu-Ode.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Tayo Mabeweje, the development follows the Federal Government’s approval of the project.

This milestone comes shortly after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority certified the Gateway International Airport for commercial operations—firmly placing Ogun State on Nigeria’s aviation map and enhancing its attractiveness for global trade, investment, and tourism.

The statement noted:

“The Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port will be developed on 130 hectares of land generously allocated by the Ogun State Government, following a request by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON. The allocation, granted on an ex gratia basis, underscores Governor Abiodun’s steadfast commitment to national infrastructure development and the creation of an enabling environment for trade and investment.”

When completed, the dry port is expected to ease pressure on the Lagos Port System, serve as a cargo consolidation and distribution hub for the South-West, enhance Ogun State’s competitiveness in trade and logistics, generate employment, and unlock fresh economic opportunities.

Speaking on the approval, Governor Abiodun described the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port and the Gateway International Airport as “critical enablers of industrialisation and regional competitiveness.” He added:

“Together, these projects will transform Ogun State into a logistics and economic powerhouse, bringing prosperity to our people and creating wider opportunities for Nigeria as a whole.”

With the Kajola Inland Dry Port already secured for the Ogun Central Industrial Cluster and now the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port for the state’s eastern corridor, Ogun State is strategically ensuring balanced industrial growth across its three senatorial districts.

According to the statement, these strides reflect Governor Abiodun’s visionary leadership and his administration’s consistent drive to deliver modern infrastructure, attract investments, and open new frontiers of prosperity for the people.
